How much does Amica cost?

All auto insurance companies have rates that vary by the coverage you select. Amica takes into account your age, driving history, where you live, and the age of your car. Then it provides an insurance quote based on the coverage in combination.
My first quote of $1,701 for six months - $283.50 per month - had coverage options that looked like this:
  • Bodily injury liability: $100,000 for one person, $300,000 for the total incident
  • Property damage liability: $50,000
  • Tort option: Full
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorists bodily injury: $100,000 per person, $300,000 per incident
  • Personal injury protection: $25,000 medical expenses, $1,000 per month/$5,000 maximum income loss
  • Collision deductible: $1000
  • Comprehensive deductible: $1,000
  • Roadside Assistance: $100
  • Rentals: $30 per day/$900 max
To save $150 – just $25 per month – the differences equated to:
  • Bodily injury liability: $50,000 for one person, $100,000 for the total incident
  • Property damage liability: $50,000
  • Tort option: Full
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorists bodily injury: $50,000 per person, $100,000 per incident
  • Personal injury protection: $10,000 medical expenses, $1,000 per month/$5,000 maximum income loss
  • Collision deductible: $1000
  • Comprehensive deductible: $1,000
  • Roadside Assistance: Not covered
  • Rentals: $20 per day/$600 max
In order to drop my monthly payments to $235 and save $48 per month, I had to make these changes:
  • Bodily injury liability: $25,000 for one person, $50,000 for the total incident
  • Property damage liability: $50,000
  • Tort option: Full
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorists bodily injury: $25,000 per person, $50,000 per incident
  • Personal injury protection: $25,000 medical expenses, $1,000 per month/$5,000 maximum income loss
  • Collision deductible: $1000
  • Comprehensive deductible: $2,000
  • Roadside Assistance: Not covered
  • Rentals: $20 per day/$600 max
You can build and choose to reach your comfort zone in monthly payments, although you receive a discount if you can pay for the six months in full.

Geico is one of those aforementioned insurers we all know due to its commericals with the Geico Gecko. It also happens to be one of the best in terms of cheaper car insurance. State Farm

Like Amica, State Farm offers several options to customize your coverage, but, unlike Amica it doesn’t offer gap insurance, which could be a deal-breaker if you’re leasing a car or have a large auto loan.

Nationwide

Another strong competitor is Nationwide, which also offers several options for coverage, including the gap coverage option. It, too, has multiplle discounts, including its Family Plan multi-line and Good Driver programs.
